Please join us at noon time (local time) on February 14th, 2012 for the 10 Annual World Sound Healing Day. On this day, people throughout the planet sound forth with an “Ah” sound, projected with the intention of love and compassion, sending a sonic Valentine to Gaia, our mother Earth. Through our Light, our Love and our Sound, we can help co-create an awakening of consciousness on our beloved planet. We can make a difference!
World Sound Healing Day is an event that came to me nearly a dozen years ago when an inner voice said: “You are to focus your attention on using sound for planetary healing.” I often receive inner guidance that is both correct as well as being inspirational. However, at the time, I didn’t have a clue as to how sound could be used for planetary healing or how it could manifest.
I’ve been involved in utilizing sound as a healing and transformational modality since the early 1980’s. This use of sound has involved healing and transformation on a personal level and includes books, CDs, workshops and other trainings designed to promote and assist awareness of the power of sound to heal and transform. But a dozen years ago, in addition to the continuation of spreading the awareness of sound for personal healing and transformation, I’m also being told to bring my focus to include planetary healing as well. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I had now idea how to do this. I wish someone could have brought me an instructional manual to go along with this concept? Ultimately, the understanding and purpose of how and why sound could be used for planetary healing revealed itself. I am grateful.
Now we are in the year 2012. It is well over a decade since that inner guidance about sound for planetary healing came to me and we are about to celebrate the 10th Annual World Sound Healing Day, on February 14, 2012. World Sound Healing Day has become a global event with thousands of people throughout the planet taking part in it.
Though I did not initially understand how it might be possible to manifest sound for planetary healing, it soon became clear that it necessary to incorporate the Internet in this process. Thus, we created www.templeofsacredsound.org, the world’s first sacred sound temple, where people can go and make intentionalized sound and project it to our planet. This website is free and available 24/7. It is particularly in use on and around events such as World Sound Healing Day. There are 3 different toning chambers on Temple of Sacred Sound where 3 different sounds, an “Om”, an “Ah” and a “Hu”—all considered by different traditions to be primordial sounds of creation—are resonating in cyberspace. Visitors to the site can go to these chambers and sound along with others throughout the planet.
For World Sound Healing Day, we decided to hold this event on Valentine’s Day—February 14th—of each year. This is a day when many throughout the planet are expressing love to a partner and we thought, what better day to hold an event so that people can project a Healing Sound of love to Gaia, our Mother Earth? We suggest to participants that they sound forth with an “Ah” sound that is encoded with the energy of compassion and love and to project this to our planet and to all sentient beings upon it. We also suggest that if possible, people make their sound at noon their local time so that throughout this day, the sound travels around the globe, bringing a fluid wave of peace and harmony to our Earth.
Why the “Ah” sound you may ask? In most of the major spiritual traditions, the “Ah” sound is perceived of as being the sound of the Heart Center and the sound of love. When we really like something, we usually sound forth quite naturally with an “Ah” sound. It’s also a sound that when vocalized quite naturally vibrates the center of our chest (where the Heart Center is located). On World Sound Healing Day, people who take part in this event they find that not only are they assisting the co-creation of peace and harmony on the planet. They also feel really good. That’s because making the “Ah” sound has all sorts of beneficial effects for the creator of the sound. Science has found that self-created sounds create effects including:
- Increased oxygen in the cells
- Lowered blood pressure and heart rate
- Increased lymphatic circulation
- Increased levels of melatonin
- Reduced levels of stress related hormones
- Release of endorphins—self-created opiates that work as “natural pain relievers”,
- Boosted production of interleukin-l, a protein associated with blood and planet production
- Increased levels of nitric oxide, (NO), a molecule associated with promotion of healing and with vascular dilation.
- Release of oxytocin, the “trust” hormone
That’s purely on a physical level. There are also many benefits on an emotional and mental level. The beneficial effects are particularly present on a spiritual level, especially when we are making a sound such as the “Ah” and are also in a state of “coherence”. Instructions on how to achieve this state while vocalizing are included in the steps of activity at Temple of Sacred Sound.
With regard to understand what the spiritual level represents, it hass become nearly impossible to disengage what our ancient mystical sages have told us from the information being culled from our new quantum physics. The power of sound has been written about in nearly all the spiritual text on our planet as being the original creative force. In the “New Testament” it is written: “In the beginning was the Word!” The Old Testament tells us: “And the Lord said; ‘Let there be light!’”—Sound preceding and actually causing light. From the Vedas of the Hindu tradition we are told: “Nada Brahman”—the world is sound. Now, the latest theories of quantum science include the idea Super Strings that are vibrating at different rates, creating multiple realties. In addition, we are discovering that the electro-magnetic field of the heart is many times stronger than that of the brain—the electrical field of the heart is 60 times greater than the brain’s and the magnetic component is has been found to be up to 5,000 times greater. This is especially true when we are in a state of “coherence”, with the heart and brain synchronized together and generating the energy of appreciation and compassion. The electro-magnetic field we create is in fact, potentially great enough to interface with what has been called the Noosphere, or the energy field of our planet. Research into this is extraordinary.
There are currently two organization—the Global Consciousness Project out of Princeton, NJ and the Global Coherence Initiative, out of Boulder Creek, CA, that are engaged in measuring the effects, of prayer, meditation, and other spiritual activities such as the energy that manifests during World Sound Healing Day.
The Global Consciousness Project uses a series of random number generators spread throughout the world to collect their data. It seems that when events of great compassion occur, the numbers become less random and they can be charted. Thus, what should be a relatively straight line because a rather mountainous looking peak when events of high compassion occur. In the chart provided, you can clearly see such a rise in the peak shortly after the noontime event of World Sound Healing Day that occurred on February 14, 2009.
The Global Coherence Initiative initially measured the geomagnetic field of the earth in relationship to the human energy field and its interface with this planet. Associated with the Institute of HeartMath, the GCI collects data to determine if there is some sort of interactive interface between the human electro-magnetic field and that of the Earth. The Global Coherence Initiative and the Global Consciousness project have now combined their forces to provide more extensive data on the power of our consciousness to interface with that of our planet.
The Global Consciousness Project graciously supplied data on World Sound Healing Day 2009. I also received data from the Global Coherence Initiative’s data from that same day which validated similar results. Below is the data from the Global Consciousness Project.
For this year’s 10th Annual World Sound Healing Day, I am suggesting to everyone that we become “Sonic Activists” in order to initiate positive shift and change for our planet. We are at a most extraordinary time in our development of a species on this planet—what many consider to be a pivotal point in our evolution. It is extremely important that we utilize all tools available in order to help co-create a planet of peace and harmony. In particular, this includes the power of intentionalized sound to shift and raise the consciousness of all beings on the Earth.
The purpose of World Sound Healing Day is:
- To help awaken humanity to unity consciousness
- To positively affect the Earth through the use of sound
- To bring awareness of the power of intentional sound
- To create conscious community using sound for planetary healing
You may also find more information about World Sound Healing Day at this link: HealingSounds.com This is detailed material about this event and many of the topics briefly described in this post. In addition, there is information about how you can plan your own World Sound Healing Day activity. There is nothing like sounding along with others in person to truly experience the transformational effects of sound.
Anyone with a positive intention to enhance the consciousness of our planet can help co-create World Sound Healing Day. You don’t need to be a singer or have any musical ability to take part in this event. Come to www.templeofsacredsound.org at noon and sound forth with an “AH”. As noted, both our ancient mystics and our quantum physicists seem to agree that this is possible. We heal the planet. We heal ourselves. We heal ourselves and we heal the planet.
Won’t you please join us this February 14th and use your intentionalized sound to co-create a planet of peace and harmony. Here’s a link to a brand new YouTube video that you might share with others: World Sound Healing Day 2012.
Together, we can make a difference!
