Dr. Kirk Laman is a board certified cardiologist and an expert in stress reduction. Dr. Laman practices cardiology with the Thoracic Cardiovascular Institute, Mid-Michigan’s premier cardiovascular specialists as part of Sparrow Health Systems. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Laman is an avid writer. His book, How to Heal Your Broken Heart- A Cardiologist’s Secrets for Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Health has been endorsed by Mehmet Oz, M.D. from Oprah and friends, and Mark Victor Hansen, author of the best-selling Chicken Soup for The Soul Series.
His latest book, Stressed Out Heart, helps people discover if stress may be putting them at risk for the development of heart disease. It is available online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and through Kindle.
Dr. Laman has written for the Detroit News, Medical Economics, and Spirituality and Health magazine. He has appeared on CBS, NBC, ABC, and Public Broadcasting in Michigan.
Dr. Laman’s film, New Frontiers in Healing was seen throughout much of Canada, Metro Detroit, and on Satellite Television. The film included Bernie Siegel, M.D., Joan Borysenko, PhD, Larry Dossey, M.D., and Barbara Brennan, PhD. Dr. Laman teaches workshops and seminars for people who feel overly stressed out.
Dr. Laman is also a teacher of the Sufi order of Shadhiliyya Sufi’s. Sufism is the deep mystical tradition of Islam, best known in the West through the writings of the poet Rumi. Sufism teaches practical methods for opening the heart to greater love. The Head of the Higher Sufi Council of Jerusalem and the Holy Lands, Muhammad al-Jamal has conferred on Dr. Laman the title of Master Sufi Teacher.
