Book Chapter: Improving ALS Symptoms, by 20.5 Year ALS Survivor

Dr Craig Oster, THE HEALERS

20.5 Year ALS Survivor to Write Book Chapter About Improving ALS Symptoms

Responding to Requests
Many people around the world have responded to my photographs of remarkable improvement by earnestly requesting that I share what is responsible for my healing. I have agreed to volunteer to write a chapter about my approach to ALS in an upcoming book “Healing ALS”, which will be published by the organizers at www.healingALS.org, which will include chapters written by others who have reported having improvements in the condition of ALS. I will share what I believe to be true, but it will only be my perspective.

Readers are Responsible for Their Choices
People with ALS who are interested in looking at my approach should do so with critical evaluation in collaboration with the medical doctor who they trust the most. I ask that people use their reason. I will only be sharing my personal experiences and opinion in the book chapter. I would like to have research conducted on what I hypothesize has played a role in the improvement of some of my symptoms.

Some have been downright aggressive toward me for even sharing my progress photos without providing a program, as if explaining what I believe has helped me is a simple task. Based upon my experiences with people with ALS, I believe that many will not fathom the value of my mind/heart approaches, dedication to eating for nutritional biochemistry, and so forth. My sharing for over five years in the ALS community about nutritional biochemistry and psychological factors as operative in my level of wellness has frequently been laughed at. It is heartwarming and gratifying for me to observe that significantly more people with ALS are open-minded and thoughtful about the ideas that I share.

I make no claims that what I have done will benefit others and I am not providing medical recommendations. I do what I do because it makes sense to me. Other people must take full responsibility for their decisions and not base them on what I believe. I have observed that there is a segment of the ALS community that will label any report of improvement in ALS as involving quackery and/or a motivation to take financial advantage of people with ALS.

Improvement in ALS Happens
There are real instances of people who provide false evidence to sell something to people with ALS, but why do some people rigidly and quickly assume that most or all cases of reported improvements involve malfeasance? That would be an interesting topic of research. I support efforts to educate people about the reality of ALS cases of reversal of symptoms. Cases are in the medical literature and have been acknowledged by esteemed ALS researchers such as Dr Stanley Appel and Dr Richard Bedlack. Dr Bedlack, Director of the ALS Clinic at Duke, has even developed a project called www.alsreversals.com. In addition to the book project of www.healingALS.org mentioned above, the organization behind that project is also producing a documentary film about people with confirmed ALS diagnoses who have improved to different extents.

Please be Patient
There is much more to my approach, including neuroscience treatment, homeopathy, whole body vibration and a 20.5 year holistic history. I will continue to post information on my blog that provides more insight into my experience and my holistic treatment journey. Efforts are also underway to better organize the existing information on my blog, website and Facebook posts so it will be easier to find and more useful to those with an open mind to alternative and holistic healing (See Blog Categories). I hope to complete my book chapter by early Summer 2015. My goal is to share my experiences to help others and expose the medical community to alternative, holistic methods that I believe should be seriously evaluated and have resulted in reversal of some of my ALS symptoms.

I have invited The ALS Association to study some of what I have done to see if others could benefit from what I have done. They have not yet responded to my invitation.

Dr Craig, My name is Laura Mayer. I was diagnosed at age 15 with Anterior Horn Cell Disease/ Lower Motor Neuron Disease by the chief at Mt Sinai in NYC, the man who wrote the textbook of Neurology. At 21 I was told I would be in a wheelchair at 25 and dead at 40 from respiratory complications. After 18 surgeries (15 tendon transfers) and 40 years, and after exhausting the medical matrix I reached out to the non-traditional healings and spirituality and completely transcended the disease. I was a clinical occupational therapist for 25 years. Today I bridge my clinical expertise, spiritual wisdom and body of proof that healing happens. Today I am an energetic healer and I do Original Wound Healing to identify the root cause of dis-ease. I have worked with ALS and have been a witness to progress as a result of looking within. I am not suggesting cure-I am speaking to my own knowing and that of others of how critical it is to heal the heart and soul and then the body has the opportunity to heal organically. The willingness to take life into your own hands is first and foremost. I am grateful to the doctors I have known and grateful to myself for saying yes to healing. That’s what I did. I know the story very well. . http://www.dancingheartdancinghands.com. Blessings, Laura
