THE HEALERS campaign was born on New Year’s Day 2012, and as we enter our fourth month we have launched our first ALS scientific research study which will be submitted to the peer reviewed journal Frontiers in Psychology. We will be examining the dietary behaviors of people with ALS (PALS) in relationship to what dietary advice they have received from health professionals and ALS organizations, and beliefs and attitudes about the role of diet in the wellness of PALS.
The research team for this scientific research project includes me, Dr Francesco Pagnini, Steve Davis, RM, Dr William Bengston and Chris Sovey, RN. Dr Pagnini, who is from Milan, Italy, is a highly regarded and impressively published ALS research scientist. His acceptance of my personal invitation was a glorious day in the formative period of THE HEALERS campaign; he is one of the most knowledgeable scientific researchers in the world regarding psychological factors in ALS. I was also happy because his arrival made our team international; the co-founder of THE HEALERS, Carl Polonyi, and myself had a shared vision of THE HEALERS campaign having a global reach.
Since Dr Pagnini joined the team, I have recruited remarkably knowledgeable people from both Australia and Germany. I am currently reaching out to the founder and president of a holistic research institute in India. Dr Bruce Lipton told me that he will share my message, which in many facets is his message, as he travels around the world teaching.
After I recruited the legendary Dr Bernie Siegel as an advisor to THE HEALERS campaign late in 2011, one of the first comments he made to me was that he highly recommended that I recruit two scientists that he considers brilliant: Dr Bruce Lipton and Dr William Bengston. I had heard of Dr Lipton before, but not Dr Bengston. I would come to learn that he was a sociologist researcher and professor whose specialties include statistical analyses and pioneering cancer healing research.
Chris Sovey is a nurse who is working on his doctorate in physical therapy; he has training in conducting research and has a special interest in nutrition. Steve Davis is a brilliant registered microbiologist researcher. Steve recently called me to tell about some innovative statistical procedure that would be used in tandem with the method of statistical analysis suggested for our study by Dr Bengston. Wow, my dreams are unfolding right now. About 14 years ago, I awoke from a dream with an image of conducting holistic scientific research and effecting change in how holistic approaches are underutilized in the United States.
My quest to recruit some of the best healers, scientists and integrative medicine physicians in the world was an intense process of nonstop work during the couple of months before the public birth of THE HEALERS campaign. I had a solid small group of advisors by the summer, yet I wanted to launch the campaign with more realization of my vision. One by one, I recruited. I believe that the time was right for my vision to be realized, and these amazing healers and scientists jumped on board. A good number of people who I was unable to recruit wrote me to tell me that they were honored, supported my mission, yet had way too much on their plate already. I really enjoyed communicating with some of these healers whose work had been quite important in my healing journey.
Getting back to THE HEALERS campaign’s first scientific study, when we are done developing our questionnaire and designing the study we will conduct an online survey within the ALS community. Of course, I will tell you about it here on THE HEALERS campaign website.
There is so much other exciting good news as we enter the fourth month of THE HEALERS campaign’s infancy. First, the classy die cast THE HEALERS lapel pins, have finally arrived! We will be soon mailing these beautiful creations to everyone who makes a $50 or more donation to THE HEALERS campaign. The co-founder of THE HEALERS, Carl Polonyi, has worked since last year to have these lapel pins produced; he will soon be penning a blog about the incredible story about what it took to get these special pins (although they are referred to as lapel “pins,” they actually easily fasten to your clothing with magnetic backing).
Second, the executive producer of PBS’s A Wider World television series told me that he wants to start with a two hour interview of me in late March or early April, as a starting point for the work that we will need to do for him to feature me in an episode! This show is viewed on the PBS network throughout the United States and even in Canada, so my hope-giving healing journey and mission will be seen by great numbers of people through the medium of television.
Third, the writer/producer in Hollywood who has been trying to pitch a reality/documentary television series (THE HEALERS) centered around my healing journey and my THE HEALERS campaign, just sent me some really positive news. He met with a company that produces content for the Oprah Winfrey Network and they discussed possibilities regarding how THE HEALERS might thrive as a television series. Feels hopeful, but as you know in Hollywood nothing is certain. He also made a deal with a major Hollywood movie and television representation agency to represent him in regards to alternative/reality television and they have the connections to open many new doors. Additionally, they have a long line of showrunners and producers at their disposal. Again, in Hollywood nothing is certain; nonetheless, I am excited and hopeful about the possibilities of touching millions more through THE HEALERS television series.
Fourth, a THE HEALERS campaign advisory team member, Coco Newton, is donating the supplements for a mitochondria treatment program that she designed for me. I have already felt a positive difference in my second day of taking Carnitine. She is also supporting me with a candida cleanse program and a probiotic program. This is a miracle of support. I am also doing B12 injections which the internationally renowned neurologist, Dr. David Perlmutter, recommended in the consultation that Coco also generously made possible. The consultation with Dr. Perlmutter focused on comprehensive and sophisticated laboratory testing, much of it not covered by Medicare and made possible through the kindness of Coco Newton. I am infinitely grateful for this. Coco and I may write a clinical paper based upon the process and results of our work together.
Fifth, I am now being evaluated as a single case study by a scientific research institute with their unique amino acid compound. Based upon his experience, the scientist is anticipating remarkable gains in muscle function within an eight week time period. I feel like they are putting my body in a healing state. I am sleeping deeper and my legs are shaking less. The scientist would like me to wait until I have more significant results before sharing much more.
Sixth, I am having healing sessions with a renowned Slovenian Bioenergetic healer. Every other week, he is donating four days of forty-five minute healing sessions. Right now, he is doing it from London. I definitely felt an effect. He is talking about major improvements. We are documenting our work together. Whereas the scientist referred to in the above paragraph believes I will gain some significant muscle but not full functioning, the bioenergetic healer is working with me to rewire my neural pathways which will have even greater implications. Zoran discovered me when one of his students gave him THE HEALERS press kit, which was created by my remarkable sponsor, International Bancard. He put it aside, and then he decided to look at it because he does not believe in coincidences. He was absolutely delighted to learn about me and my THE HEALERS team and believes that we may help him introduce this powerful healing method to North America. In a future blog I will share much more about this healing method and how it has been documented and scientifically evaluated. I have much to learn about it.
Seventh, THE HEALERS advisory member, Dr Ann Louise Gittleman, is sending my dental records to a world renowned biological dentist, because she has a gut feeling that there may be a key in the dental issue for me. Only God knows. I am so grateful that she is generously doing this for me and will be consulting with Coco Newton and me regarding the hair laboratory results from testing which Dr Gittleman generously donated.
